Home Made Korean BBQ

Is this a piece of modern art? Or a shot of the newly discovered river on Mars?

Not even close. This is a shot of my home made Korean BBQ Marinade, thanks to a recipe from the July issue of Bon Appetit.

Real easy to make - just whisk and chill:

- 0.5 cup soy sauce
- 2 Tbsp water
- 1.5 Tbsp raw sugar
- 1 Tbsp minced garlic
- 1 tsp Asian sesame oil
- 1 tsp freshly grated ginger
- 0.5 tsp ground pepper
- 0.5 cup chopped shallots

Chill away for at least a day.

As for the meat, I bought those great looking Maui Ribs from Windsor Quality Meats (4110 Main Street).

Those were marinated for 24 hours in my home made sauce - ready for BBQ.

And a beautiful BBQ they make.

Unfortunately, I could not find or think of a Korean side dish, so a traditional North American potato salad was served.

Mustard. mayonnaise, a bit of sugar and pickle juice, chopped green peppers and chill.
Cats sure was craving them, but with all those weird ingredients in the food, he had to settle for smelling the marinade than eat the meat.

No worries cats, basic steaks will be on the bbq soon enough.
